Common Issues During Installation and Commissioning of Belt-Type Manure Cleaners

Preventing and adjusting belt misalignment is a key focus during installation.

Preventing and adjusting belt misalignment is a key focus during installation. During installation, ensure that the frame’s levelness error does not exceed 3 mm/m; a spirit level can be used to calibrate each section individually. If misalignment occurs during operation, first check whether the idler rollers are worn. If wear is severe, replace them promptly. For minor misalignment, adjust the regulating bolts at both ends of the driven shaft: if the belt drifts to the left, tighten the bolt on the right side. Each adjustment should not exceed 1/4 turn, and after each adjustment, run the conveyor for 30 minutes to observe the effect. For conveyors longer than 10 meters, it is recommended to install an additional set of alignment idlers every 5 meters, leveraging their automatic correction function to minimize manual intervention.

Common issues during the commissioning of power systems require targeted solutions. If an unusual noise occurs when the motor starts, it could be due to insufficient lubricant in the gearbox; refer to the instruction manual and add lubricant up to the oil level mark. If the trip occurs because the load is too high, check whether the conveyor belt is rubbing against the structure of the barn or whether foreign objects have mixed into the manure. You can install a grate at the feed inlet to filter out impurities. For multi-motor linkage systems, ensure that all motors rotate in the same direction. You can perform a jog test to calibrate each motor individually, thus avoiding equipment damage caused by reverse rotation.

The key design considerations for sealing and leak-proofing cannot be overlooked. The edges of conveyor belts should be fitted with 5–8 cm high side guards, and arc-shaped transition plates should be installed at corners to prevent manure from falling off. Equipment installed beneath slatted floors must have collection trays fitted at the base of the frame to prevent urine from seeping into the ground and corroding the equipment. For caged layer systems, the clearance between the manure removal machine and the bottom of the chicken cages should be maintained at 10–15 cm. If the clearance is too close, chicken feathers may get caught in the mechanism; if it’s too far, manure may scatter. Precise positioning can be achieved by adjusting the height of the suspension brackets.
