The zinc coating thickness of hot-dip galvanized chicken cages ranges from 60 to 80 μm. This alloy coating is formed through a high-temperature melting process, offering excellent corrosion resistance and a service life of over 20 years. In contrast, cold-galvanized coatings are only 5 to 15 μm thick and rely on an electroplating reaction; they are prone to damage and have a short protection period (typically 3 to 5 years).

Material and Load-Bearing Parameters
Stainless steel: 304 stainless steel has a tensile strength of 500–590 MPa, making it suitable for applications with high load-bearing requirements.
Cold-rolled sheet: Q420B cold-rolled sheet has a compressive strength of 420 MPa. It has lower costs but requires regular maintenance.
ABS plastic: Lightweight but with limited load-bearing capacity, suitable for short-term or small-scale aquaculture.
Size and Ventilation Design
Single-occupancy space: Laying-hen cages must provide at least 450 cm² per bird (e.g., a 1.1m × 2m cage can house 26 adult ducks).
Ventilation duct: Reserving a space of ≥35 cm can reduce ammonia concentration and decrease respiratory diseases.
Quality assessment criteria
Coating inspection: Hot-dip galvanized surfaces are rough with zinc blooms, while cold-galvanized surfaces are smooth but prone to rusting.
Structural strength: Welding points shall be free of cracks, and the thickness of C-channel steel shall be ≥43mm.
Accessory durability: The feeders and cage doors must pass a 100,000-cycle opening and closing test.

The Five Major Advantages of Large-Stack Layer Chicken Cage Equipment
Hot-dip galvanized and cold-galvanized chicken cages differ significantly in terms of coating thickness, durability, surface quality, and cost. Hot-dip galvanized chicken cages are more suitable for long-term outdoor farming.
What are the advantages of tiered layer cages?
A tiered layer cage is a common piece of equipment used for large-scale egg-laying hen farming.
